Why a Bicycle Friendly Business program?

By cultivating Bicycle Friendly business practices and developing local business corridors to welcome patrons on bicycles, the BFB Program seeks to build community, increase physical activity, and make streets less congested while supporting Los Angeles neighborhood businesses.

Bicycle Friendly Business Program

Welcome! This webpage is a resource for businesses interested in participating in the LADOT Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) Program. Here you will find all the information you need to become a partner with the BFB Program and learn about the benefits of promoting bicycling in your community.

Candidates for the BFB Program include local retailers, restaurants, and other businesses committed to supporting and encouraging bicyclists in Los Angeles by providing Bicycle Friendly amenities and programs. Any establishment located within the City of Los Angeles can join the program by fulfilling Bicycle Friendly criteria like installing bicycle facilities for patrons, offering business promotions for people travelling by bicycle, encouraging bicycle commuting for employees, or sponsoring bicycle friendly community events.

A Public-Private Partnership for Better Communities

The BFB Program is an initiative of the LADOT Bicycle Program’s Bicycle Outreach and Planning Group. The program is a partnership between the City of Los Angeles, neighborhood and business organizations, and local businesses committed to encourage short trips for local dining and shopping and support bicycling as an active mode of transportation.

Outreach and Support for Businesses

The BFB Program provides support for local businesses who cater, or wish to cater, to people traveling by bike or foot. The goal of the program is to make bicycling a viable option for those who are visiting your community to shop, dine, work, and play!

Aside from providing businesses with resources to make themselves Bicycle Friendly, the program also serves as a directory for people travelling by bicycle in Los Angeles. Businesses participating in the BFB Program will be listed here, allowing bicyclists to discover businesses offering deals and amenities for people on bikes. Participating businesses are placed on a listing and map of Bicycle Friendly businesses.
